What is a Doula?
A doula is someone trained in pregnancy and birth who can provide you with the tools to face labour and birth with confidence. A doula will power with you in order to discover how to empower yourself from within. She will be your continuity of support and your advocate during your experience of pregnancy and birth.
Claire will be by your side, a reliable source of accurate information and an unwavering emotional guide. Her aim is for you to be in the best position possible to make informed choices for yourself and your baby, however your baby chooses to be born.
Prenatal Visits
Claire can help you from the time that you find out that you are pregnant!. She can help you to make informed choices about where to birth and who to have as your birthing team. She can help you to find resources for everything from antenatal classes to finding local practitioners.
Labour and Birth
During your pregnancy, labour, birth and postpartum experience, Claire can provide ongoing emotional support in order to ensure you feel calm and prepared for the upcoming changes and transformations. Claire will guide you in writing a well-informed birth plan, and in knowing all of your options.
She can liaise with your birthing team about your preferences, and can ensure you are equipped with the tools to communicate effectively with midwives, doctors and obstetricians if applicable. She will also support your birthing partner, if you have one.
This can be so important in order for them to be the best support they can be for you. Having Claire as your doula means your birthing partner is alleviated of being your advocate, and can be fully present with you as you both meet your beautiful new baby for the first time.
Postnatal Care
Claire will offer you support after the birth of your baby in a variety of ways. From watching over the baby or older children so you can have a shower to directing you to counselling or medical services if required.
She provides over the phone or text support as well as 3-4 home visits to ensure your wellbeing.
Blessingway Ceremony
Claire holds Blessingway ceremonies at her Moon Court Temple in Springwood or she can come to your house if you prefer. A Blessingway ceremony involves a women’s circle of discussion and offerings of support to the pregnant mother, rituals to send well-wishes for the birth and surrounding her with adoration for all that she is doing by creating and birthing new life.
